Rear door bus pad improvements for Intercity Transit are going to continue to impact traffic in downtown Olympia for another week.
The bus pad improvements were originally expected to be completed on Friday, Aug. 28. No explanation was given for the extended timeline.
"There will be continued traffic impacts in the (downtown) area through Friday, (Sept. 4)," said the City of Olympia in a construction and traffic alert.
"The impacts are occurring at the intersection of 4th (Avenue) and Washington (Street) and Capitol Way between 4th (Avenue) and 5th (Avenue) for Intercity Transit rear door bus pad improvements."
The bus stop at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Washington Street has been temporarily relocated 105 feet west, near the US Bank building.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes or allow additional travel time through the area.
Daily work hours will remain from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with all roads reopening at the end of the day through Sept. 4.

I think it's a great investment. Our Intercity Transit is pretty nice to have and to speed up loading and unloading at stops is a good thing.
