Thurston County’s Board of Health BOH reiterated the safety of vaccines, its availability, and that it “allows our community to stay healthy,” as it officially proclaimed the month of August as Immunization Awareness Month.

During the BoH meeting last Tuesday, Disease Control & Prevention Division Director Erin Birklid discussed immunization’s importance as a health intervention, saying the proclamation recognizes the importance of routine vaccination for people of all ages.

Birklid added that vaccines play a critical role in avoiding grave and sometimes deadly diseases across one's lifetime. She also said immunization saves millions of lives and is widely recognized as one of the world's most cost-effective, successful health interventions.

“August is a perfect time to ensure that you and your loved ones are updated on all the recommended vaccines,” said Birklid.

Wendy Hurst, Immunization Coordinator for Thurston County Public Health, talked about the county’s initiatives for school clinic immunizations.

“Beginning next week, August 15, we'll be holding the first back-to-school vaccine clinics in partnership with the Thurston County Medical Reserve Corps, North Thurston Public Schools, Tumwater Public School, and Sea Mar community health clinics,” Hurst said.

Hurst also mentioned the schedule of the immunization, found in the table.

I know this is just about the controversial subject in the world, after all that has happened. Anyone who is still saying the so-called vaccines are saving lives has obviously not looked at the recent data. Death rates in people of all ages is off the charts and it is not a virus that is killing them.
