Love triangle leads to Olympia man’s arrest

An Olympia man’s frustrations with his ex-girlfriend dating his childhood friend landed him in jail.

Lacey police said Cameron C. Harris, 29, was arrested on Feb. 26 after an incident at his ex-girlfriend’s house.

The police reported that the ex-girlfriend told them that Harris arrived at her house unannounced and began yelling at her and her current boyfriend, who is also Harris’ childhood friend. Police say Harris accused his friend of being the reason why his ex-girlfriend was ignoring him.

The suspect then pulled out a knife from his pocket, the woman told police, and threatened to kill the couple.

Harris then shoved his childhood friend into a motorcycle in the garage and a physical altercation ensued between the two, according to the ex-girlfriend.

The current boyfriend initially denied any scuffle between him and Harris in fear of his friend getting into trouble, but later admitted to police that he punched the suspect twice in the face after he was shoved into the motorcycle.

The suspect began to leave when police arrived at the scene.

Harris was detained without incident. He told police that he came to his ex-girlfriend's house to pick up his belongings but became upset when he saw the other man there.

The suspect claimed that he always carries a pocketknife but did not bring it out during his confrontation with the couple.

Police found a knife on the garage floor. The couple also submitted to authorities another pocketknife that they found in the home but did not recognize as theirs.

Harris was booked at the Thurston County Jail for aggravated assault, harassment with threats, and residential burglary.
