A man with a felony warrant in Oregon was arrested after he was caught for reckless driving on Interstate 5 on January 23, just a bit after nine in the evening.

According to Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), in a police report, a deputy observed a black Mazda CX-30 traveling northbound at excessive speed.

The deputy activated the front radar, which displayed the Mazda's speed at 105 mph and later increased to 115 mph in a 70 mph zone.

As the Mazda passed the deputy's vehicle, it swerved dangerously between lanes , later turning on hazard lights and maneuvering between vehicles erratically.

When the deputy attempted to pull over the vehicle, the Mazda initially accelerated further before finally coming to a skidding halt on the right shoulder.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy observed the driver, later identified as Michael Anthony Song, appearing to record the encounter on his phone. Song told the officer he was from Oregon and that “they are very hostile and just a little bit racist”. He continued on, saying, “I don’t know how you boys are in Washington.”

Despite being asked for identification, Song initially refused, claiming to have lost his wallet while "hotel hopping."

I could smell the odor of intoxicants and the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. I noticed as the male spoke with me, he would slur his words at times,” the TCSO deputy stated in the police report.

Concerned that the man might attempt to flee from his refusing to identify himself at first and his speed of talking, the deputy requested backup and prepared spike strips and put those in front of the Mazda’s rear wheels as a precaution.

After further questioning, the individual provided many conflicting details about his identity and resisted cooperating with law enforcement.

A Washington State Patrol Trooper arrived on the scene, and the man was identified through fingerprint scanning.

Upon running his name through dispatch, I was advised Michael was shown to have a

felony warrant out of Oregon for Aggravated Harassment and PBV DUI I. He also

had a WA DOL record and was shown to be Invalid, Not Licensed, and Not Eligible,” TCSO stated. When he was tested for alcohol intoxication, the Washinton State Trooper “advised the male was not DUI and blew under. He advised [that] he was not going to arrest him for DUI.”

Upon arrest, the man's wallet was found in his possession, contradicting his earlier claim of losing it.

The individual was transported and booked into the Thurston County Jail on charges including first-degree criminal impersonation, reckless driving, and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
