Oly Town Artesians reshuffle for new season of soccer

Open tryouts for new players

Former Artesians Indoor Team Head Coach Nate Boatright is leaving the sidelines and stepping back onto the field as team captain.

“I enjoyed coaching last year and I had a great time working with Nick and the team but ultimately while I can I want to be on the field and out there with the guys,” said Boatright, 3rd place WISL Skipper for the Oly Town Artesians soccer team.

Former Artesian player and coach Matt Herrera will fill the coaching vacancy, just in time for the new season to start.

“Indoor is a different game and it’s a different mentality. It’s fast-paced and relentless especially at our home field at the Evergreen State College Pavilion.” Herrera said. “I look forward to seeing the talent that comes out this winter and vying for a Championship.”

The team reached the semis last season but was stopped short by Bellingham United, who in turn lost to the Tacoma Stars in a championship game that was highlighted by a late-game brawl.

With a new season coming up, Oly Town is looking for some fresh talent with open tryouts at the Olympia Evergreen State College Pavilion at 4201 Driftwood Lane NW, October 11 and 13,  8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Herrera advised aspirants to come early to fill out the necessary forms and pay the $25 tryout fee, to be used for covering part of the player’s cards and insurance.
