A student at Olympia High School recently participated in the Washington State House of Representatives Page Program, gaining firsthand experience in state government.
Sponsored by Rep. Beth Doglio (D-Olympia), Aleksander Bielawski spent the week supporting the legislative process in various roles.
Pages in the program take on multiple duties, including presenting the flags, distributing amendments on the House floor and assisting in the daily operations of the Washington Legislature.
In addition to their responsibilities, pages receive civics instruction, draft their bills and engage in mock committee hearings, offering a comprehensive introduction to state government.
The House Page Program is open to students ages 14 to 17, providing a unique, hands-on opportunity to learn about the legislative process and civic engagement.
