A 34-year old Olympia man was booked on two charges after allegedly damaging his mother’s property and attempting to burn down her house.

According to a report from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect was arrested on Tues., Jan. 9, after a reported disturbance in the 2500 block of Green Court.

The 56-year old mother told a Sheriff’s deputy that her son has an extensive history of mental health issues, including post-traumatic stress disorder. She also said the suspect was likely high during the incident because he uses methamphetamine and heroin.

The mother explained that the suspect became agitated because she “wouldn’t acknowledge that he was a vampire.” She said she became scared after he talked to himself about killing people.

Sheriff’s deputies entered the mother’s home and saw damage on her television screen, broken ceramic pieces across the floor, and a large knife on the counter. The electronic burners were also all turned on and surrounded by burned tissues and paper.

The mother confirmed that her belongings were not previously damaged and that the suspect spoke about burning the house down during his rant.

The suspect initially refused to cooperate with authorities, telling them to “f*ck off” and “go away,” but was eventually handcuffed without incident.

A responding deputy said the suspect kept saying that he had “certain powers” and could “wipe [the deputy] off the planet using only his mind.”

The suspect was booked at the Thurston County Jail for first-degree attempted arson and third-degree malicious mischief.
