The City of Tenino announced the season opening of the Tenino Quarry Pool will be on Saturday, June 27.
The opening coincides with the Tenino Family Fun Day and America250 celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Activities include live entertainment from America’s 1st Corps Big Band Jazz ensemble and performer Bill Lenker, pony rides, bounce houses, live reptiles, model train exhibits, carnival games, a dunk tank, food vendors and more.
From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Tenino Depot Museum will also host a series of living history displays and exhibits, including:
There will be a Park Processional, a foot-and-pedal parade around Tenino City Park to celebrate America250.
No motorized vehicles are allowed. Participants are required to be dressed in family-friendly or patriotic costumes, have a pet in costume (must clean up after your pet), ride a decorated bike, trike, scooter, skateboard, derby car or any human propelled vehicle, or carry an instrument to play.
Check-in takes place at the museum between noon and 1 p.m. Lining up begins at 1 p.m. The procession starts at 1:30 p.m. An award ceremony will follow.
The Tenino Depot Museum will release a special, limited-edition red, white and blue Tenino Wooden Money piece in honor of the nation’s semiquincentennial.
The front features "250" and the back reads "Happy Birthday America."
“These rare pieces will sell for $5.00 each as a fundraiser to support museum operations. To maintain their exclusivity, only 500 pieces will be minted in total,” said the City of Tenino in a news release.
The first 250 pieces will be released during Family Fun Day, and the remaining 250 pieces will be released at Tenino Oregon Trail Days on July 24–26.
