The Washington Center for the Performing Arts (CENTER) Stage Awards & Gala is set to bring together a vibrant community of artists, supporters, and philanthropists on Saturday, March 9, to celebrate local talents and advocates of the arts.

Jill Barnes, Executive Director of the Washington Center, expressed enthusiasm for this year's gala, describing it as "a progressive evening of music, celebration, and philanthropy."

The CENTER’s press release described the annual fund-raising event supporting Washington Center, which promises to be a memorable occasion, highlighting the indispensable role of the arts in fostering creativity and enriching the community's arts culture.

A focal point of the gala will be the presentation of the Excellence in the Arts awards, recognizing individuals whose contributions have significantly impacted the local cultural scene.

Among this year's recipients is Olympia-based comedian Sam Miller, known for his comedic prowess and national acclaim, who will receive the Achievement in the Arts award.

Miller's achievements include winning the Comedy on Trial Competition and success in the Seattle International Comedy Competition.

Miller also has significant online achievements, with his videos garnering millions of views on social media and reaching the number one spot on iTunes Comedy Charts with his recent album, Round Trip, released in October of last year.

In addition to individual accolades, the gala will also honor organizations dedicated to promoting the arts within the community.

Olympia Junior Programs, an institution with an illustrious 80-year history of providing live theater experiences to elementary students in Thurston County, will receive the prestigious Commitment to the Arts award.

Olympia Junior Programs served fifty-five different school groups and 14,000 students with community volunteers dedicated to introducing elementary students to the world of theatre.

The festivities will kick off at the Heritage Room with the awards ceremony before transitioning to the Washington Center for a captivating performance titled "The Greatest Piano Men."

This live rock and roll celebration pays homage to piano icons such as Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, and Billy Joel.

Tickets for the awards and gala are available for $200 per person, offering premium seating at the performance.

Alternatively, attendees can opt for tickets solely for "The Greatest Piano Men" performance, with prices ranging from $36 to $69.

All ticket options can be purchased through the Washington Center's website.

All proceeds support the Washington Center's mission of inspiring audiences and artists of all ages through live performances.

A special fund-a-need initiative will focus on education and outreach programs to bring students to the theatre.
