The Tumwater Parks & Recreation Department is calling for volunteers to help with its upcoming Easter Egg Dash event alongside other community projects to beautify and enhance the city.

The Easter Egg Dash, a tradition in Tumwater, is set to take place on Saturday, March 30, at Tumwater High School.

There are several opportunities for community members to get involved before the main event, such as volunteers needed for egg stuffing on March 14 and 15 at the Old Town Center.

To stuff 20,000 eggs, helpers are encouraged to drop by between 12 noon and 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, or from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15.

Individuals can participate for as little or as long as their schedules allow.

On the event day, March 30, volunteers are also needed for set up, clean-up, and general supervision from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Tumwater High School.

Following the festivities, on April 12, volunteers will assist with egg de-stuffing at the Old Town Center from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. to sort the easter eggs and store them for future use.

Volunteers aged 15 and above are welcome to participate in these activities.

More information is found here, and if you are interested in joining, you can register here.

Park beautification

In addition to the Easter Egg Dash, volunteers are invited to participate in a service project to beautify Tumwater Historical Park in time for the Earth Day celebration on April 20.

Tools, gloves, water, lunch, and a volunteer t-shirt will be provided to those who will pre-register.

Youth aged 13 and under may also join in with a parent or guardian.

Registration for this event is available here.

Tumwater residents are also encouraged to participate in the Stewardship Program, which allows individuals or groups to adopt roads, neighborhoods, parks, or trails for quarterly clean-up activities.

Access the application form here and then submit the completed form to the volunteer coordinator by email or physical mail using these details.
