Tumwater: Night closure of US 101 on-ramp to northbound I-5 wraps up construction

TUMWATER – Tonight, nighttime drivers using US 101 between West Olympia and Tumwater can expect separate work zones. The work will finish a summer project to repave areas of southbound US 101 between Mud Bay and Tumwater.

Southbound US 101 on-ramp to northbound I-5

  • From 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29 to 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, the southbound US 101 on-ramp to northbound Interstate 5 in Tumwater will close.
  • Travelers will detour to Trosper Road and return via northbound I-5.

The closure will allow crews to return lanes to their original configuration. Lanes were shifted to the right to create a work zone to enhance the on-ramp barrier.

US 101 at Black Lake Boulevard

  • From 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29. to 5:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, travelers can expect single-lane closures approaching Black Lake Boulevard.

The single-lane closures allow crews to work on the US 101 bridge spanning Black Lake Boulevard. The work will help keep the bridge in good working order.

The night construction is weather dependent and could be rescheduled.
