Two suspects accused of armed robbery of Lacey coffee stand

Within the past week, authorities arrested two brothers who were accused of robbing a Lacey drive-through coffee stand at gunpoint in January.

Both Sonny A. Ramirez-Wells, 24, and Raymond Wells, 23, were charged with a single count of first-degree robbery and are being held at the Thurston County Jail.

The charge stems from an incident the afternoon of Jan. 19. Lacey police responded to an armed robbery at a coffee stand on Pacific Avenue, after an employee — the only employee working in the stand at the time — ran to a nearby business to call 9-1-1.

According to the employee, a man approached the window on foot and ordered two drinks. From her vantage point, she couldn’t see the second suspect. As she began to make the drinks, one of the suspects jumped in through the window and said “give me the money.”

The suspect held up his hand, pointing something at her, but the object was covered by a tan beanie. The employee said she thought she saw the end of a firearm extending from the beanie. She then threw an ice scoop at the intruder and jumped out the opposite window. The second suspect tried to stop her, but she dodged past him, making it to a nearby business.

Warrants were issued for Ramirez-Wells and Wells’ arrests on Jan. 25. Both were out on bail for separate criminal matters. Ramirez-Wells had posted $250,000 bail with the help of a bail bond for a Thurston County gas station robbery in April where Ramirez-Wells allegedly fired a shot at a gas station employee.

According to jail records, Ramirez-Wells was booked into the Thurston County Jail today on a warrant for robbery.

Wells was accused of leading a Thurston County deputy on a car chase on July 30, after the deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over for shining blinding high beams at the oncoming deputy. The chase hit speeds of 90 miles per hour and ended with Wells allegedly running from the car and hiding under a porch. Court records indicate he bailed out of jail through a bail bond on Aug. 12.

According to Q13 Fox, Wells was arrested last week after allegedly robbing a Pierce County coffee stand.

Wells appeared in Thurston County Superior Court yesterday, where he was placed on $50,000 bail, according to court documents, consecutive to any other bail amount imposed for his other active case.

Ramirez-Wells appeared in court this afternoon, where Superior Court Commissioner Nathan Kortokrax imposed $250,000 bail — a higher amount than the $100,000 Deputy Prosecutor Scott Jackson requested.
