Vaccine events see large turnouts; additional events planned for this week

Posted

Almost 900 people received their first dose of the COVID vaccine Friday at a mass-vaccination event at the Thurston County Fairgrounds; the next day another group of 1,100 people received a second dose at an event at Lacey Regional Athletic Complex and Fire Station 34.

Both vaccination events were organized by Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) with the help of many community partners. PHSS, today, announced additional vaccination events throughout the week.

The upcoming events will take place at the South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia. Registration is set to open later in the week — although PHSS didn’t provide a specific time, and asked community members to check the department’s Facebook page frequently for additional updates.

To confirm your eligibility to vaccination, check out www.findyourphasewa.org.

The vaccination events will be:

  • Friday, March 12 is reserved for people 65 and older or 50 and older while living in a multigenerational household.
  • Saturday, March 13 is reserved for eligible childcare providers and teachers.
  • Sunday, March 14 is reserved for any eligible adult.

PHSS asks that you do not contact the college for questions about the events, as college officials are not running the vaccine clinic.
