The City of Lacey invites the community to attend a live, virtual Police Chief Finalist Forum on Tuesday, June 15, from 6 – 8 p.m. The online event will provide community members an opportunity to learn more about the top Police Chief finalists.

The City is currently collecting interview questions from the greater community to help inform the questions that will be asked at this event. Interest parties can submit interview questions for consideration at bit.ly/LPChiefQuestions by Sunday, June 13, at 5 p.m. It is anticipated that five questions will be asked and all candidates will have an opportunity to respond to each question.  

The Lacey Police Chief oversees a department of 77 employees, including 61 commissioned officers. In addition, this position is accountable for an approximately $13,600,000 annual budget. The Police Chief is responsible for public safety services and active crime prevention programs for the benefit of Lacey residents and businesses.

For the recruitment, the City of Lacey hired Public Sector Search & Consulting to conduct a national search following Chief Ken Semko’s retirement in April 2020. The successful candidate will be the eighth Chief in the department’s 54-year history. The Police Chief is a key member of the executive team and is hired by and reports directly to the Lacey City Manager.
