Woman flees with a child in truck, crashes vehicle in car chase

A woman was arrested after attempting to flee from law enforcement in a car chase with a small child inside the truck.

According to its news release, last week, Lacey Police Department (LPD) responded to reports of individuals in a tan truck tampering with vehicles in the Walmart parking lot.

Upon arrival, LPD identified the truck and attempted to intervene.

Instead of complying, the driver of the truck fled the scene at high speed.

Despite efforts to keep the truck in sight, officers lost track of it momentarily but caught up when they received reports of a tan truck crashing on the I-5/Martin Way on-ramp.

Witnesses described a female fleeing the scene with a small child towards the Park and Ride.

Law enforcement located the woman and the child at a nearby movie theater.

Fortunately, the four-year-old child, who was not properly secured in a car seat at the time of the crash, only suffered minor scratches.

Initially giving false information, the woman revealed her true identity after authorities warned her of an additional charge for using a false identity. She also disclosed that the child was not hers.

“She said she had been the driver of the truck at Walmart while her friend had been prowling vehicles, and fled when she saw police,” Lacey Police Department stated in their news release.

Upon searching the suspect, officers discovered shaved keys commonly associated with vehicle thefts, along with pills and fentanyl.

The crashed truck turned out to be an unreported stolen vehicle from Olympia. The owner of the truck had not known it was stolen or where it belonged.

The suspect faces charges including eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless endangerment, and possession of motor vehicle theft tools.

“Officers were able to use True Responders funds to purchase an appropriate car booster seat for the child, and he was returned safely to a family member,” stated Lacey PD.

and where did they put the thief? Is she already out on bail? Let's see her face and her name. Oh, and her ''friend"" is still at the Walmart prowling vehicles, so it's like cockroaches. You can catch one but the other is still on the loose.

And, as is always the case, a stolen and crashed vehicle is usually totaled out. Victims of car thieves have to buy another vehicle. No one helps them, but I'm sure the thief will get an opportunity to be 'rehabilitated', counseled, all sorts of nonsense. She like all thieves will be treated as if they're "misunderstood". Nuts to that noise. THey're thieves. Put her in jail for a year and a day.
