Police arrested second suspect in homicide of Olympia man

Posted

Police received additional information on the death of a 31-year-old Olympia man whose body was found in September, which led to a second arrest on suspicion of second-degree murder.

Jonathan M. Carroway, 39, is being held in the Thurston County Jail on $1 million bail. He was arrested Dec. 22, less than a week after police arrested Kyle G. Jarstad, 32, who’s also being held on $1 million bail on suspicion of second-degree murder.

According to court documents, Olympia police received a tip on Dec. 20, indicating Carroway’s involvement in the slaying of Shaun Moore. Moore’s remains were found on Sept. 15 near railroad tracks at the intersection of Plum and Union streets. Evidence was sent to the Washington State Patrol crime lab, where they determined Moore’s identity.

Police investigated Moore’s most recent address, an apartment, where they found six people were staying. After interviews with the people, one of them, Jarstad, was arrested on suspicion of murder for allegedly beating Moore to death.

However, the tip police received indicated Carroway was also involved in the death, and that Carroway had allegedly told a third party that he struck Moore just before he died.

Carroway and Jarstad are also accused of disposing of Moore’s body.

Carroway was booked into the Thurston County Jail on Dec. 22, where he and Jarstad are being held on charges of second-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and unlawful disposal of human remains.

It is very sad that the monster wasn't put away when I was dating him! I dated carroway in 2016, he beat me and in turn stabbed him (enough for him to need stitches) to get him off me! I ended up in prison and he walked free! If they would've locked him up for beating the crap out of me and making me miscarry, this might very been avoided! He is the most evil man and he's not sitting right where he belongs for the rest of his life! Watch out for big daddy Jon because those of us who know you know you'll bend over!
