Traffic Advisory

Traffic Signal Work in Israel Road SW and Linderson Way SW in Tumwater today, tomorrow

Posted

To facilitate the ongoing Israel-Linderson Water Main Replacement Project, Tumwater commuters are advised to prepare for possible delays until tomorrow, October 13.

Since earlier today, the traffic signal at the Israel Road SW and Linderson Way SW intersection has been operating in flash mode between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM and is expected again tomorrow.

During these hours, traffic control measures and flaggers will be in place to guide and assist drivers through the work zone, ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow.

The City of Tumwater recommends that drivers exercise caution when traveling through the work zone, especially when work crews are active.

Drive at reduced speeds and be prepared for potential delays.

Motorists should take an alternate route to avoid the intersection during the specified hours to minimize disruption in their commute.

The traffic signals will be restored to their normal operational status at the end of each work day.

The schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment issues, or unforeseen project delays.

Commuters can stay informed about construction notices and traffic alerts related to planned road construction projects and emergency events by following the City of Tumwater on Twitter.

Contact the City of Tumwater at (360) 252-5408 or via email for any questions, concerns, or further information.

Regarding the construction on I-5 north freeway ramp off Trosper, I cannot figure out why people can’t turn left from Trosper onto the freeway north to Olympia instead of keeping Trosper bottlenecked all the way to Capital Blvd and then have to turn onto Capital Blvd and then back the other way to Trosper again to enter freeway. People were turning left at first before they blocked it off. Maybe there was an incident that caused them to force people to take that more time consuming route? Or maybe they are worried that big trucks can’t make the turn? In which case they could make the trucks stay to the right until they’ve passed the entrance ramp. Can the traffic controllers figure out a better way? This project looks like it will be going on for a while and I’m wondering if this extra hassle may be more of a bureaucratic safety decision rather than a true safety issue. I have no facts or experience to back that up:) There may actually be a very good reason for it. Unfortunately my confidence that common sense has prevailed is fairly weak and I can’t help but wonder whether or not it’s a true safety issue. Ok, I’m sensing some of you commenters chomping at the bit to clobber me with your replies, so I’ll let you get to it! Happy travels everyone!
