The Christmas spirit is here! Here are just some of the events planned for the coming days:

 

San Francisco's Telegraph Quartet, Saturday, December 9, starting at 8 p.m.

The award-winning, San Francisco-based group brings lively musicality and an energetic stage presence to Emerald City Music, showcased through a variety of works written in the first half of the 20th century. Emerald City Music shines the spotlight on the award-winning Telegraph Quartet with two concerts featuring three vigorous string quartets: Florence Price’s Five Folksongs in Counterpoint, Grażyna Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 4, and Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major. InGenius! Season of Artful Giving, Every Saturday, 10:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

et the InGenius! Holiday shopping tradition begin! Join friends and neighbors for a season of artful giving.To celebrate this holiday season, InGenius! Local Artisan Gallery & Boutique will offer many chances for you to meet the InGenius! artists and artisans who are helping bring art alive in the heart of Yelm and Thurston County. Every Saturday from November 26 through December 17 from 10:30-5:30, enjoy live Christmas music and complimentary refreshments while you shop, watch artists demonstrate, and create your own unique ornament to decorate the Tree of InGenius! The Christmas Lights Are Shining Bright on Broadway, December 11-12, from 7 p.m.

The Olympia Musical Theatre Singers, under the direction of Troy Arnold Fisher, presents The Christmas Lights Are Shining Bright on Broadway, A Leiber & Stoller Christmas.  These two artists wrote over 70 chart hits, and were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1985 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. In addition to their romantic ballads, Stand by Me and Loving You, the audience will enjoy the ridiculous fun of Charlie Brown, and Yakety Yak  among others. There will be two performances: One on Sunday, December 11, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, and another one on Monday, December 12, at Temple Beth Hatfiloh. OlyFilm 10th Anniversary Retrospective Celebration, Monday, December 12, 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

OlyFilm - previously known as the Olympia Film Collective or ‘OFC’ - an award-winning 501(c)3 non-profit, is celebrating ten (10) years of supporting local independent filmmakers with a retrospective of their past work at Capitol Theatre (206 5th Ave SE Olympia, WA 98501). Doors open at 6:00PM with a red carpet entry, step and repeat banner photos, and a slideshow of ‘behind-the-scenes’ photos from the last 10 years. Screening starts at 7:00PM with 19 total short films, various raffle prizes and Q&A to follow with the filmmakers. Click this link for more details.

 

Hari Kondabolu at the Capitol Theater, Tuesday, December 13, from 8 p.m.

Comedian Hari Kondabolu (Comedy Central, NPR) will bring a new hour of stand-up comedy to Capitol Theater on Tuesday, December 13! Hailed as “one of the most exciting political comics” (New York Times), his Netflix special "Warn Your Relatives" was named on many “Best of” lists, he has performed on Comedy Central, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live and he is co-host of the new Netflix show “Snack vs Chef” premiering Nov 30. 2022 Holiday Makers Market by Lacey MakerSpace, Friday, December 16, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The community is invited to shop for handmade gifts crafted by over 20 indie artists, artisans, and makers at the 1st Annual Holiday Makers Market. The Lacey MakerSpace, Washington Center for Women in Business (WCWB), Saint Martin’s University, and TheWMarketplace partnered to create this event. Shoppers will find a wide range of goods, from woodworking, artisan foods, weaving, and other fiber arts to ceramics, glass, jewelry, home decor, bath and body products, art prints, paintings, cards, and much more.
